Il testo trae la sua origine nell'invito rivolto da Papa Giovanni Paolo II a tutti i cristiani a trovare le forme in cui il ministero del Vescovo di Roma "possa realizzare un servizio dell'amore riconosciuto da tutti gli interessati" (Ut unum sint 95). Numerose risposte a questo invito sono state offerte da diverse comunioni cristiane, così come riflessioni pertinenti da vari dialoghi teologici ecumenici. Il Dicastero per la Promozione dell'Unità dei Cristiani ha visto nel 25° anniversario dell'Enciclica Ut unum sint, così come nella convocazione da parte di Papa Francesco di un Sinodo sulla sinodalità, l'opportunità di offrire una sintesi di questi recenti sviluppi ecumenici. Il libro, che riassume una trentina di risposte alla Lettera Enciclica di Giovanni Paolo II e cinquanta documenti di dialogo ecumenico sul tema, è il frutto di un'ampia consultazione ecumenica e sinodale.
The document The Bishop of Rome finds its origin in in the invitation addressed by Pope John Paul II to all Christians to find, "together, of course", the forms in which the ministry of the Bishop of Rome "may accomplish a service of love recognized by all concerned" (Ut unum sint 95). Numerous responses to this invitation have been offered from different Christian communions, as well as relevant reflections from various ecumenical theological dialogues.
The Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity saw in the 25th anniversary of the encyclical Ut unum sint, as well as in the convocation by Pope Francis of a Synod on synodality, an opportunity to offer synthesis of these recent ecumenical developments. The Bishop of Rome, summarising some thirty responses to Ut unum sint and fifty ecumenical dialogue documents on the subject, is the fruit of a large ecumenical and synodal consultation.
It concludes with a brief proposal of the Dicastery, identifying the most significant suggestions put forward by the various responses and dialogues.
This document is published in the hope that it will stimulate further theological investigation and practical recommendations for an exercise of the ministry of unity of the Bishop of Rome "recognised by all concerned".

she has also participated in several research groups related to the new trends in the Fiction/Non-Fiction paradigm in Spanish audiovisual discourse, as well as on the protection of minors and and the relationship between television and childhood. She currently resides in Rome, where she combines her work as aq Communications consultant with research at the School of Communication at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.
This book was written for the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the School of Church Communications, which was founded in 1996 as part of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Although several of its professors and collaborators have participated as authors, these pages are not intended as a review the brief history of the School. Rather, they aim to be a collective reflection on people, themes and events of the final years of the 20th Century and the beginning of the Current one, which can teach us much about the communication of, in and from the Church. It has been a time rich in significant events and changes - the new millennium, the digital revolution, the economic and migratory crises, the global pandemic — which have produced major cultural transformations and veritable tsunamis in the world of communication. Communicating the faith and the Christian experience is the task of all the members of the Church. But it is also true that communication professionals and academics nave a special responsibility in this task. We hope that this book can contribute to the appreciation and promotion of the role of communication in the Catholic Church, by taking stock of the work done in these twenty-five years, reflecting on the lessons learned and showing the challenges that lie on the horizon.

Gli interrogativi e i suggerimenti di chi è sopravvissuto ad abusi sono il punto di partenza per una riflessione necessaria dentro e fuori le comunità religiose.
